What are Toxins?
Toxins are substances that have harmful effects on the body. They come from food, water, air, from chemicals used to grow and process food, coffee, sugar, pre-packaged foods and junk foods. The number of toxins entering your bodies is reaching unprecedented levels and their cumulative effect on our health is unknown. Toxins also originate from within the bodies regular metabolism and are produced by the mind in the form of unhealthy emotions.

Normally, a person can process these toxins in the liver, kidneys and other organs and eliminate them in the feces, urine, and sweat. Dehydration, lack of exercise, stress, anxiety, lack of dietary fibre and constipation, insufficient consumption of fresh vegetables and fruit, and the cumulative effect of chemicals in our food are just some of the common lifestyle factors that impair normal detoxification and cause toxins to hang around in our digestive, lymphatic, skin, and other places in our body where they can cause damage. Our menu is free of red meat, white sugar, white flour, white salt, soda, alcohol, coffee.

PRIOR TO YOUR ARRIVAL CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING ACTIONS: Provided below is a general food list to follow. If you can begin to integrate some of the information listed below one week prior to your arrival at Grail Springs, then your transition will be easier. There are many doctors and books available with many different food lists. We found that this list works very well and produces the best results.

The No No List
• No red meat
• No soda pop
• No white sugar
• No white flour products like: (french stick & most baked goods)
• No gluten, wheat or yeast
• No caffeine (Green Tea is good however)
• No alcohol
• No dairy (some exceptions see below)
• No table salt (refer to Himalayan Salt)
• No artificial or processed foods

The Yes Yes List!
• Yes to consuming lots of water with lemons
(consume little while eating)
• Yes to dark green vegetables and lots of them
• Yes to wheatgrass if you have access
• Yes to homemade vegetable juice if possible
• Yes to brown rice, barley, oatmeal, lentils, chick peas
• Yes to cooking with or dressings made with olive oil (good fat)
• Yes to soy milk, rice milk or almond milk
• Yes to eggs a couple of times per week (poached or boiled)
• Yes to live yogurt
• Yes to mozzarella, ricotta, cottage cheese, feta or goat cheese in moderation
• Yes to gluten free, wheat free baked goods (ask for El Peto baking products at local health store)
• Yes to fish (exclude shellfish)
• Yes to poultry (moderate)
• Yes to Organics!!
