Day 5 Thursday September 9th, More of the Sacred Valley/Pisac: Today we continue our celebration by traveling to the southern end of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, to the pueblo of Pisac. Modern Pisac is a picturesque Andean Village, typical except for the huge, spreading tree that dominates the central square. The village is best known for its Indian market, which draws hundreds of tourists each week. In spite of its popularity, the market retains much of its local charm, at least in the part where villagers from miles around gather to barter and sell their produce, making it a special place to interact with the Quechua People (Inca’s decedents). At this local market we will see the real flavor of Peru; people dressed in their traditional and regional clothing, musicians playing the pan flutes, farmers with their many varieties of corn and potatoes (over 200), and of course the many artisans who hand-make beautiful wool and Alpaca rugs, blankets, and sweaters. High above the present day village of Pisac lie the impressive Pisac ruins. The ruined city provides one of the finest examples of stonework and the panoramic views at Pisac's Inca citadel are magnificent. Terraces, water ducts and steps have been cut out of solid rock, and in the upper sector of the ruins, the main Sun Temple is equal of anything at Machu Picchu. Guido, our tour guide, will take those that desire to hike up for few hours to experience the energies of this special site. In our way back to our hotel, we will stop for a short visit to the enchanted home of the the artistic family of Seminario. Seminario's art is a message from the past. The artistry of Pre¬Incan sculpture was almost lost to history. Seminario discovered the ancient traditional Pre¬Inca sculptures and lives his dream of recreating them. Having become internationally recognized for his work, the Field Museum of Chicago is currently developing a permanent exhibition of Seminario’s work. His work stands as one of Peru’s treasures. Return to our hotel for dinner. Free evening for relaxing, SPA and journal and preparing for tomorrow’s big event, our first encounter with the Crystal City, Machu Picchu.
Day 6 Friday September 10th Sacred Valley/Machu Picchu: In the early morning we will board a train to Machu Picchu. The breathtaking view of the Urubamba Valley, where time stands still, will be a special preparation for our arrival in the Sacred Crystal City, known as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. After we check into our hotels in the Aguas Calientes village and have lunch, we take the local bus up to the mountain and 30 minutes later we will be experiencing one of the most special moments of our journey, a moment many of us have dreamed for along time, and now it has finally come true. Machu Picchu was a University where knowledgeable women practiced daily spirituality. Before entering Machu Picchu Vera will guide us into a process to anchor our heart energy with the heart of Pachamama and center ourselves with the heart of Machu Picchu. We then approach the original front portal of Machu Picchu and ask permission from Machu Picchu’s spiritual guides as we enter its sacred walls. After a Sunset meditation at Intihuatana, the highest point of Machu Picchu, we take the last bus down to the village where you can enjoy the recommended Peruvian food offered at Indio Feliz (Happy Indian) restaurant. www.hatuchaytower.com/ (4 star) www.inkaterra.com/en/machu-picchu (5 star)
