Jennifer Hicks brings back The Nia Technique: Dance, Get Fit, Have Fun!

Kick off your shoes, move, get fit, and have fun! Come experience Nia, a barefooted fitness practice which blends dance, martial arts and healing arts (i.e., yoga). Nia is suitable for everyBODY, from the beginner to the elite athlete. Nia’s ground-breaking work is recognized as one of the most innovative and safe cardiovascular programs to date and is considered a pioneer in the health and fitness world.
Nia will show you how to really MOVE, not just exercise. Through Nia, you’ll learn to move according to The Body’s Way, that is, according to the design of the body; the way we were meant to move. This means moving away from pain and towards pleasure, all with greater awareness. Moving away from guilt-drive  to desire-driven movements, training all the muscle groups instead of just the small muscle groups, creating internally directed and expressive movements. Nia emphasizes muscle balance while strengthening and training the nervous system. It allows us to not only create physical fitness, but also invites fitness of the body, mind, spirit and emotions.

Through Nia classes and movement exercises, this weekend will allow you to experience the expressiveness and grace of dance, the mindful power and explosiveness of martial arts, and the wisdom that comes from sensation through the healing arts. You will learn how to customize a Nia workout so that it suitable for your fitness needs.

Please wear comfortable clothing that will allow you to move freely and easily.

Friday

  • 3-6pm arrival, spa, fitness and fun in and around the property
  • 5:15pm join a short tour
  • 6pm dinner
  • 7pm Introduction to Nia with Jennifer Hicks

Saturday

  • 7:15am sunrise yoga
  • 8:15am breakfast
  • 9:00am Grail Morning Mantra
  • 9:15am Hike to Crystal Crop
  • 11:30am Let's dance, get fit and have fun with Jennifer Hicks!
  • 12:30 lunch 
  • 1:30 to 6pm daily spa, grotto, sauna etc time
  • 6pm dinner 
  • 7pm Evening with Jennifer Hicks

Sunday

  • 8:15am breakfast
  • 9am Grail Morning Mantra
  • 9:15am Nia concludes with Jennifer Hicks
  • 10:30am spa time
  • 11am check out of rooms
  • 12:30 lunch (extra)
  • Participants are invited to continue to enjoy the facilities, fitness classes and spa treatments. Lockers available upon request.

Jennifer Hicks found her groove and natural rhythm through Nia. A Brown Belt Nia Instructor, Jennifer has been practicing Nia for 10 years and teaching for 5. Nia introduced her body to freedom, and taught her to love and respect herself more deeply and fully.
Jennifer’s students have described her as an enthusiastic, energetic “firecracker” who is full of life. She is a dedicated, passionate, welcoming and approachable Nia instructor with a positive and confident ability to inspire students make the most of themselves.
Jennifer also maintains a private Speech-Language Pathology practice working with adults recovering from brain injury, stroke and other neurological issues.
