The Healing Power of Music
~ with Canadian Recording Artist Debbie Danbrook
October 7th to 9th
Music is often said to be food for the soul. It touches each one of us deeply and personally. In ancient times music was used for healing, music was medicine. Listening to healing music with an open heart is one of the most natural forms of meditation and healing available in our lives today.
This retreat will offer the participants the opportunity to experience the healing energy of the Shakuhachi flute and voice in different peaceful and sacred settings. The Shakuhachi¹s revitalising and powerful sound vibrations lead to a relaxed meditative state where healing can take place. In addition, a simple postural breathing technique will be taught and utilized during the healing meditations.
Friday evening
An introduction to healing music and the Shakuhachi flute plus the teaching of a simple breath techinique. A Shakuhachi meditation will be offered while the participants focus
on the breathwork.
Saturday afternoon
There will be a short talk on the Chakras and how healing music can help to clear and balance these energy centres in the body. Then a self healing technique will be taught that can be used in conjunction with healing music.
Saturday evening
A healing music meditation will be offered in the Great Hall. The participants will relax while Debbie walks through the space, weaving a web of healing energy around the group.
